Modernist CourtyardA contemporary garden that truly reflects the architecture and materials of the property - white rendered walls, concrete paving, and cedar wood overhead beams. The garden forms the backdrop to this glass-backed house so it was essential that the interior and exterior spaces felt as one.The garden is on two levels with a prominent steely grey wall forming the major focal point of this courtyard garden. On the upper terrace the large L-shaped outdoor sofa can be adorned with comfy cushions - the perfect spot for entertaining friends. Simple, crisp overhead cedar beams filter the sunlight over a seating area with a permanent cedar bench. Two steps lead down to the lower terrace where a bench catches the morning sun. Blocks of fine-textured grasses will provide a transparent screen between the upper and lower terrace. - Highgate, London
