Sweeps and Curves
Tucked away in the seaside village of Walberswick, my clients’ garden was in desperate need of an update. Out went the sombre, static 1970′s shrubbery, the crumbling raised bed in the drive and the rockery – in came soft grasses and perennials which echo the swaying dune grasses on the beach down the road. At the front, a new curved, rendered raised bed with a slate coping stone was designed to unite the house with the garden and guide guests to the front entrance.
Whilst in the main garden a seating area enclosed with light diaphanous planting and tactile ornamental grasses overlooks a generous lawn which sweeps around the house leading to a children’s play area at one end and a playhouse at the other end – encouraging a constant flow of children around the garden!
