Jewel Garden

Jewel coloured planting that will change with the seasons and attract birds and butterflies was a key requirement for my clients in their Suffolk coastal cottage garden.

Sawn York stone steps set within red brick retaining walls lead up from the cottage to the garden and to the new garden room.  A central York stone circle enclosed with rich coloured, textural planting provides a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the wildlife up close whilst two small trees provide height, spring blossom, berries and fruit for the birds as well as stunning autumn colour.   Thyme is planted between the stepping stones that lead up to the garden room and brick paver seating area.  The colours of the stone and brick work pick up beautifully with the tones of the castle and surrounding cottages as well as the planting.

On the lower level a cedar clad bin store is topped with a sedum roof and echoes the facade of the new extension to the cottage.
